Michelle Maskaly is an East Coast-based freelance and contract, social strategist, media consultant, public relations professional, multimedia journalist, writer and blogger. She is the primary author behind the popular pet lifestyle website, My Tail Hurts From Wagging So Much and the lifestyle, food and travel blog The Adirondack Chick.
Her work has appeared in newspapers and on Web sites such as FoxNews.com, The Star-Ledger, Home News Tribune, Staten Island Advance, The Adirondack Journal, BlogPaws, Beckerman Voices, BlogHer and SILive.com She has interviewed celebrities, political figures, TV personalities and everyday people. She most recently served as the social media coordinator for Beckerman, a full service public relations firm with offices in New Jersey, New York, California and Washington, D.C.
Michelle is proficient in social media, as well as communications, public relations, marketing, crisis communications, general media and has experience working on political campaigns. She has spoken at national and regional journalism conferences and frequently participates in social media panels, as well as trains companies and small businesses on social media tools.
Her clients range in diversity from chambers of commerce and non-profit travel events to sports and pet websites. Michelle is available for contract projects, consulting, speaking, freelance writing, trade shows, and guest/expert opportunities, as well as brand ambassador programs, full-time positions and sponsorships.
While still a senior in college, her news instinct immediately pulled her to Jersey City, N.J. on Sept. 11, 2001, where she interviewed and reported on those who escaped the terror attack for what was then New Jersey's largest newspaper.
After graduating with dual degrees in political science and communications with a concentration in journalism from Ramapo College of New Jersey, Michelle started her career at a Jersey Shore-based newspaper and quickly worked her way up the Gannett New Jersey chain of publications before accepting a position with the Staten Island Advance and then moving on to the world of TV news. Her passion of social media led her to public relations.
When not working Michelle can be found enjoying the outdoors, likely kayaking in the Adirondacks with her dog, traveling or cooking for her friends.
