I'm Speaking at BlogPaws!

This is so exciting! I'll be speaking at BlogPaws this week. My presentation is Social Media: A beginner's guide to building your influence.

My nerves have the best of me right now, because BlogPaws, a social media conference for pet writers and bloggers, is where I really got hooked on social media. So being able to share my social media knowledge at the event that you could say changed the path of my career, is exciting.

If I'm able to share the slides after the event, I will. At the very least, I think they will be available on the website and I will share that link here.

Ironically, the same weekend, there is a social media gathering in the Adirondacks, #ADK827, which I'm very bummed about missing. But, there is a good chance I will Skype in and ask a question to the one of the panels.

Isn't it so amazing that technology allows you to (sort of) be in two places at once?

Tips for Bloggers Working with PR Companies

Since I work in both fields, I tend to have a unique perspective on the blogger/public relations firm relationship, especially when it comes to product reviews.

I recently guest posted on BlogPaws listing five tips for bloggers to think about when dealing with a product or company's PR firm.

Would love to hear some feedback on the tips, as well as your own experiences.

Guest Post on BlogPaws

I recently authored a guest post on the BlogPaws website about why their conference is different compared to others and doesn't fit the typical "conference model."

You can read the post about why BlogPaws doesn't end once the last speech is given on their website.

Enjoy!

I Heart Pet Bloggers

When I first tell people I blog about pets and animals they usually give me a funny look, but once I explain a little more about my blog My Tail Hurts From Wagging So Much, and the work we try to do to help raise awareness about animal-related issues, they usually get it and understand our passion for making the world a better place for pets and their owners.

If you told me a year ago, heck if you told me nine months, I would be writing about pets and enjoying it so much, I would've laughed in your face and said, "The only animals I will be covering are the ones on Capitol Hill."

Boy was I wrong. And, this weekend was a perfect example of why I'm so happy to be part of the pet bloggers community.

A group of pet bloggers from the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania area gathered in New Jersey for a little dog-friendly pumpkin picking, corn maze walking and to collect donations for a local New York shelter. Some of us had met at BlogPaws, but there was a good amount of people who didn't know each other, yet we all meshed perfectly, because we had a common goal of helping homeless animals.

It was such a great time!
